The goal is to simply move the steel ring that has a 1/4″ space in it through the labyrinth until it can be removed from the puzzle. Simple enough! However, there are several cleverly positioned dowels that prevent the ring from being manipulated through certain pathways. Also, the troughs between holes that allow the ring to “step” through the puzzle are arranged in such a way that only a methodical approach will ultimately be rewarded. (Note: there are two other steel rings (without gaps) positioned in the puzzle that do not move — they are simply there to add another complication to moving the goal ring through the puzzle. The wood bead inside the puzzle appears to be inside only to provide a bit of sound during the process of rotating the cube about while trying to solve the puzzle.) Additionally, the build quality is pretty nice — though made in China, the craftsmanship/quality control of this item is satisfyingly solid. It is quite attractive sitting on its display stand, and I am happy to have this item displayed in my house. I don’t believe it would be out of place if given as a gift to an executive, or used as decoration on an office desk or coffee table.

This is fun, well made, great stand, my husband loves it and keeps it on his desk. However…it does not come with any instructions or overview or details of what the objective is. Believe me, it is not self explanatory. Okay the goal is to move the ring…but to where? And is the marble inside just for sound effect? How do you know when you’ve completed the puzzle? Never the less, very good for fiddling with during long phone calls.

Got this puzzle. Great packing and craftmanship. I would have given a 5 star rating, but it lacks any hints on how to start it for us novice puzzlers. Makes an attractive desk decoration though!
